God Bless America

Happy 4th of July to you all! Yes, I know it's only the 3rd, but in our family we are considering it the holiday already. Hubby is off work, we've had a nice, relaxing morning, and now we are getting ready to head out to our church's annual "I Love America" celebration--our largest outreach of the year and our city's biggest fireworks celebration. The kids love it, and we always have a great time with friends from our church family.

This year our church is partnering with GodTV to broadcast the event which will include the first ever Angel Mission Benefit Concert. The event will include a live-feed of Angel Mission's drilling of a clean-water well in Kenya, Africa. Those of us at the event, as well as GodTV viewers will have the opportunity to make a donation toward the drilling of 25 other clean-water wells in Kenya. A $5 donation will provide clean water for one Kenyan for 20 years! For more information on the event or to donate to Angel Mission's Water for Kenya project, click here.

Off to get the kiddos ready for a day of fun as well as an opportunity to change the life of someone on the other side of the world. It's a good day! If you get a chance, tune in to GodTV to see what we're up to today, and consider donating toward the project in Kenya.

God bless America!

Entertainment Book Giveaway

If you're a Dr. Phil watcher, you probably saw Frugal Coupon Mom on his show this week. I did, and I was impressed and inspired. Now she is giving away a free Entertainment Coupon Book. I used to get these all the time...unfortunately, that was back in my single-youth-sponsor days when I didn't know to take full advantage of the deals! (I usually purchased it out of obligation from one of the students I worked with. Gotta love those school fundraisers!) If I had known then what I know now, I could have saved a fortune!

To enter the giveaway, visit here by March 9! Hurry, and good luck!

Chuck is Back!!

I was so excited last Fall to find a new show that I absolutely LOVE. That hasn't happened since I stumbled across The Office a few years ago. There are shows that I enjoy from time to time, but no other show had that do-not-miss-under-any-circumstances hold on me...until I met "Chuck."

Maybe it's the refreshingly witty writing, maybe it's the quirky characters or the natural chemistry of the cast, or maybe it's the fact that it's one of the few shows that Hubby and I BOTH thoroughly enjoy. I enjoy it because it's fun, it's quirky, and you can't help but hope that Chuck and Sarah eventually end up together. Hubby loves it because it conjures up a huge helping of nostalgia for him. You see, Hubby is a true-to-life Chuck (minus the whole special agent thing).

Hubby worked at a real-life "Buy More" through college and when I first met him. Most of his longtime friends have worked there, too...the real-life "Nerd Herd." I love to watch Chuck with him because he laughs so hard and makes comments like, "Stuff like that really happens," (e.g., the break-room antics of the Buy More staff) or "I worked with a guy just like him!" (e.g., a Buy More employee you're sure the writers created from the darkest recesses of their imaginations).
I was devastated when I found out last spring that, due to the writer's strike, "Chuck" would not return until the Fall. I have counted the days, weeks, and months, and now it's here. I must admit, thanks to I-tunes I previewed the season premiere and I have to say...it is really a must see!

If you're already a "Chuck" fan...YEA, he's back!! If you're not yet a fan, I encourage you to check out tonight's season premiere on NBC...you might just find yourself setting the DVR to record every Monday night like I do!

What shows are you looking forward to this Fall?

Deadlines...Ugh!

So sorry I have been neglecting my blog this week. Just so you know I have been DYING to post, but alas, have no time. Between sick kiddos, b-day parties (apparently everyone I know has a child born in the month of April...including my own!), and writing assignments, the time seems to slip away. But the good news is...tomorrow is my deadline for my latest writing assignment! (Don't worry...I'm already done. No, I am NOT procrastinating by blogging...although that is totally something I would do!)

I have a love-hate relationships with deadlines. They drive me crazy...up until the moment they are met. Then it's as if a huge, heavy burden is lifted, the skies turn blue again and the world is right. So I will hopefully have the time, creativity, and mental energy to wow you with some wonderful insights again soon (lucky you!).

Now, off to watch the newest episode of The Office...I'm so glad they're back! (I feel like they're old friends I haven't seen in months...how sad is that?)
